MARRAKECH TOURS
HIGHLIGHTS
We invite you to spend a memorable time by booking the 2 Days Marrakech to Zagora desert tour. Zagora is the closest desert area to Marrakech despite it does not have golden sand dune fields as is the case with the 3-days Marrakech to Merzouga desert tour. However, you can get a great insight into the southern regions covering the Ait Benhaddou Village with its striking Kasbahs, drive through the spectacular Atlas Mountains, go on a camel for the sunset view & spend the night in our desert camp or under the stars.
DAY1: Marrakech – High Atlas – Ait Benhaddou – Zagora
After having breakfast in your hotel/Riad in Marrakech, your private driver/guide will pick you up from your accommodation at 07:30 am for an interesting journey down to the Zagora desert. You will drive through the spectacular high-Atlas Mountains over the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2260 m) offering panoramic views.
Have a guided walking tour of the Ait Benhaddou Village, listed by the UNESCO as a World Heritage Site since 1984. The Kser of Ait Benhaddou consists of Kasbahs (fortresses) depicting the striking archticture of the south. It played a strategic role being in the former carvan route that used to connect Marrakech, high-Atlas Mountains & the Sahara.
You will, then, drive through the Anti-Atlas Mountains with its unique geological formations before getting the palm valley of Draa. Upon arrival to Zagora, you will go on a camel ride for the sunset view leading us to our desert camp, which is located in the middle of nowhere.
You will have a nice meal for dinner under the stars or inside our tented restaurant follwed by a time of entertainment with the staff members. Culminate the day with a relaxing sleep in your private en-suite tent or under the stars.
Early wake up in the morning, attend the majestic view of the sunrise over the hill. After having breakfast under the sunlight, we will drive back to Marrakech through Ouarzazate (Hollywood of Africa) because the region has been used to shoot many Holywood Movies including Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia, Sahara, Prince of Persia…etc.
We may want to make a visit to the Atlas Film Studios before driving over the Atlas Mountains back to Marrakech, which we will reach in the late afternoon.
