Merzouga 4x4 Excursion
After having breakfast in your hotel, camp or Riad in the Merzouga desert, we will embark on a journey around the Sahara desert of Erg Chebbi. Initially, we will get a great insight into the localy system of irrigation “Khettaras”, which is a sophisticated way of conveying water from far distances to irrigate the palm oasis by digging a series of well and interconnect them with an underground channel.
We will pass by the Merzouga administrative center before getting to the Khamlia Village where we can have a session of spiritual music known as “Gnawa Music” performed by “Black Africans” brought as slaves from the Sub-Saharan Lands.
Later, we will have a complete circuit around the majestic sand dune field of Erg Chebbi while including many short breaks to take memorable pictures. Follow the Paris Dakar track leading us to the local nomad family that lives in a tent and offering an opportunity to share a cup of tea with them while learn about their unique lifestyle.
In the afternoon, we will drive back to your accommodation where we will drop you off.
