DETAILED ITINERARY of the 4 Days Tour from Ouarzazate
Day 1: Ouarzazate to Dades Valley via Ait Ben Haddou
Begin your adventure in Ouarzazate, heading first to the famous Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is renowned for its striking architecture and has been the backdrop for many films. After exploring the kasbah, continue your journey through the picturesque landscapes of the Dades Valley, known as the “Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs.” The day ends in the Dades Gorges, where you’ll spend the night in a traditional guesthouse, surrounded by towering rock formations.
Day 2: Dades Valley to Merzouga via Todra Gorges
After breakfast, continue your journey through the Dades Valley, heading towards the Todra Gorges. These dramatic canyons, with their sheer cliffs rising over 300 meters, offer stunning photo opportunities and a chance to stretch your legs with a walk along the river. In the afternoon, you’ll head towards the Sahara Desert, arriving in Merzouga at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes. Here, you’ll embark on a camel trek into the heart of the dunes, where you’ll spend the night in a desert camp under the stars.
Day 3: Merzouga to Midelt via Ziz Valley
Wake up early to witness the sunrise over the Sahara, a truly magical experience. After breakfast in the desert camp, you’ll ride your camel back to Merzouga and begin your journey northwards. Travel through the scenic Ziz Valley, known for its lush palm groves and traditional Berber villages. Continue through the arid landscapes of the eastern High Atlas, reaching the town of Midelt, nestled between the Middle Atlas and High Atlas Mountains, where you’ll spend the night.
Day 4: Midelt to Fes via the Middle Atlas Mountains
On your final day, you’ll travel through the stunning Middle Atlas Mountains, passing through cedar forests and picturesque Berber villages. Stop in Ifrane, often referred to as the “Switzerland of Morocco” due to its European-style architecture and cool climate. Continue your journey to Fes, one of Morocco’s oldest and most culturally rich cities. Your tour concludes upon arrival in Fes, where you’ll be dropped off at your accommodation, leaving you with unforgettable memories of your Sahara Desert Adventure.
